Our Projects

From pipelines to power lines, our work reflects the trust industry leaders place in Main Logging to get the job done right.

Building British Columbia’s Future

Our portfolio demonstrates our versatility, technical expertise, and ability to deliver exceptional results in challenging environments. The following projects highlight our capabilities across various sectors and underscore our commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and efficient project execution.

Cedar LNG Pipeline Right-of-Way Clearing and Road Construction

One of our current flagship projects involves preparing the way for this critical energy infrastructure development. The Cedar LNG project represents a significant investment in British Columbia’s energy future, and Main Logging is proud to contribute our expertise to its development.

This evolution was not simply about business survival – it reflected our ability to identify emerging opportunities and adapt our skills to meet changing market demands. Today, logging remains one tool in our comprehensive service toolbox, alongside the specialized services we have developed over decades of operation.

Scope of Work:

  • Comprehensive right-of-way clearing for pipeline installation
  • Design and construction of access roads in varied terrain
  • Implementation of advanced environmental sediment control measures
  • Marine site clearing and preparation
  • Road construction to support ongoing operations

Technical Challenges:

This project presented unique challenges including working in sensitive coastal environments, managing variable weather conditions, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders including First Nations partners. Our team developed specialized approaches to protect fish-bearing streams while maintaining efficient operations throughout the project area.

Environmental Considerations:

Environmental protection was paramount throughout this project. We implemented comprehensive sediment control systems, maintained strict boundaries for vegetation removal, and worked closely with environmental monitors to ensure compliance with all permit conditions. Our proactive approach to environmental protection resulted in zero reportable incidents throughout the project duration.

BC Hydro Northwest Transmission Line

This landmark project, completed approximately 10 years ago, established Main Logging’s reputation for excellence in utility infrastructure development.

The Northwest Transmission Line extended British Columbia’s power grid to previously underserved communities and resource developments, creating significant economic opportunities throughout the region.

Scope of Work:

  • Clearing transmission corridors through varied terrain
  • Constructing access roads for construction and maintenance
  • Implementing environmental protection measures in sensitive areas
  • Coordinating with multiple contractors and stakeholders

Long-term Relationship:

Following the successful completion of this major project, Main Logging has maintained an ongoing relationship with BC Hydro, providing maintenance services for transmission infrastructure throughout Northwest BC. This continued partnership demonstrates our reliability and commitment to service excellence over time.

Current BC Hydro Work:

Today, we continue to support BC Hydro through various service contracts, including transmission tower changes and maintenance activities. These ongoing projects require specialized knowledge of safety protocols for working around energized infrastructure and the ability to operate efficiently in remote locations.

Pacific Northern Gas Access and Clearing

Our partnership with Pacific Northern Gas exemplifies our ability to maintain long-term client relationships through consistent delivery of quality services. This ongoing collaboration involves regular maintenance and development activities to ensure reliable natural gas delivery throughout Northwest British Columbia.

Scope of Work:

  • Clearing and maintaining access to gas line corridors
  • Supporting infrastructure upgrades and repairs
  • Providing emergency response services when required
  • Implementing environmental protection measures in sensitive areas

Year-Round Operations:

This relationship requires adaptability to changing seasonal conditions, with activities continuing throughout the year. Our team maintains readiness for deployment in all weather conditions, ensuring Pacific Northern Gas can access their infrastructure regardless of environmental challenges.

Project Management Excellence:

The success of our Pacific Northern Gas work stems from effective project management systems that ensure appropriate resources are available when needed, safety protocols are followed consistently, and communication channels remain open between all stakeholders.

Forestry Operations and Sustainable Resource Management

Throughout our history, we’ve completed numerous forestry projects that demonstrate our commitment to sustainable resource management. While market conditions have shifted our business focus somewhat, we maintain the capabilities and expertise to deliver comprehensive logging services when required.

Sample Projects:

  • Selective harvesting operations in environmentally sensitive areas
  • Salvage logging following wildfire or disease impacts
  • Reforestation initiatives supporting long-term forest health
  • Road development for forestry access with minimal environmental impact

Environmental Benefits:

Our forestry work incorporates best practices for sustainability, including measures that support habitat protection, water quality maintenance, and efficient resource utilization. We work closely with forestry professionals to ensure our operations align with long-term management objectives for British Columbia’s forests.

First Nations Partnerships in Action

Many of our most successful projects involve meaningful partnerships with First Nations communities throughout our service area. These collaborations create economic opportunities while ensuring traditional knowledge informs project planning and execution.

Collaborative Approach:

We recognize that effective partnerships require genuine engagement and mutual respect. When working with First Nations, we focus on understanding community priorities, creating meaningful employment opportunities, and incorporating Indigenous perspectives into project planning and execution.

Economic Benefits:

Our First Nations partnerships have generated millions in joint venture revenue, created employment for Indigenous workers, and supported skills development through apprenticeship programs. These economic benefits extend beyond project completion, creating lasting positive impacts in partner communities.
